W2KSP2 Clients on a subnets behind a router get this error:

Event Source: Automatic Updates
Event ID: 16
Description:
Unable to connect: Windows is unable to connect to the Automatic Updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection.

MS documentation states, that if DNS queries to your Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) are not resolved and you have the Automatically detect settings check box is selected, you get the event ID 16 error. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;824208)

My DNS server does not have WPAD enabled. Do those of you who have SUS working on subnets behind routers have WPAD enabled? (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;252898)

All PC's on the the subnet with the SUS server, DNS server and the Domain Controller get updates. A few odd PC's on subnets behind routers get the updates however they are all w2k SP4. Is there a feature in SP4 that does require Automatic Update to reolute wpad.mydomain.com?
