WSUS MPSReports is what CSS uses to troubleshoot wsus server and client issues. If your going to call in for support consider running this first so you can get them the data easily.
AUdbgTrace.exe tool that allows you to run a trace and extended logging while doing so from a client to either WSUS or WU/MU. Good for when you think you may have a networking issue so you can see what's happening on the wire..
IE_AsSystem very good for troubleshooting when you can access http://wsusserver/se...ate/wuident.cab however your AU client is not automatically getting content etc.. usually indicates a proxy that requires auth but the System Account as a non-domain user cannot auth.
It's not there yet but a teammate is also working on putting the "secret internal" client reset tool on the site as well (should hopefully be there this week) . It's not all the secret as we give it out all the time. It basically runs through a lot of steps such as clearing bits queues reinstalling bits/winhttp/msxml and some of the latest patches (like 927891 high svchost cpu thing), clears the softwaredistribution folder reregisters a ton of .dll's and deletes the catroot2 folder. We tend to call it the shotgun tool as it doesn't really give you a root cause as to why you had a problem but we'll hope that one of the shotgun pellets hits/takes out the target.
