Hi,
A month or so ago, we started to have timeout issues with some of our Downstream servers (replicas) when trying to sync with our primary WSUS server. We have 18 downstream servers and about 8 of them keep failing their synchronisation with this error:
SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
It always timeout 10 minutes after the start of the synchronisation process. We tried running the cleaup wizard multiple times. It works, for 1 or 2 synchronisation, and then starts failing again. [seems random...]
Any idea where we should look to better understand the problem? All servers are running the latest 3.2.7600.226 and are replicas of our primary WSUS.
Also, the downstream servers are *always* able to get the latest updates from the primary (upstream) WSUS server before the synchronisation times out. But they are never able to update the status of their computers on the primary WSUS. (the primary WSUS shows a lot of computers with "unkown status" for the latest patches. That's how we realise that the Synchronisation failed. On our primary WSUS server, when we look at the status of all our Downstream servers, they are all OK, since half of them properly synchronized and the other half synchronized at least the patches... but not the status of their computers...
Thanks for the help,
Bernie
